Typical is the fertility of rodents. Females are getting pregnant many times over a year and generate several smalls. They have poor eyesight but excellent sense of smell.
Their whiskers help them to have a very good picture of the environment and is extremely sensitive to every sound and movement. Their hearing is also highly developed and have and can detect intruders (such as humans) very easily.
They eat almost everything and need little water. They survive in small spaces and in varying conditions. Always are hidden, exploring their environment and tolerant people. The majority of rodents are herbivores, feeding on seeds, nuts, roots, tubers, stems, leaves, flowers and fruit. Some are omnivores, eating meat such as insects opportunistically and a small number are carnivores.
